Nierenparenchym Das Nierenparenchym ist das eigentliche funktionelle Nierengewebe.

Es wird unterteilt in:

44die 1–1,5 cm breite Rinde (Cortex), die

peripher liegt, und

44das zentral liegende Mark (Medulla).

Nephron Die funktionellen Einheiten der Niere

sind die sog. Nephrone. In diesen erfolgt die Urinbildung.

Dabei unterscheidet man zwei anatomische

Strukturen des Nephrons: den Glomerulus,

der im Bereich der Rinde liegt und quasi der Filter

ist, in dem aus dem Blut Flüssigkeit abgepresst

wird, der Primärharn. Das tubuläre System ist die

nachfolgende, zweite Einheit. Die Tubuli liegen im

Markbereich und sind für die weitere Verarbeitung

des Primärharns zum eigentlichen Urin verantwortlich.

Jede Niere enthält ca. 1–3 Millionen

Nephrone.

The kidneys have many functions: They regulate water, mineral, and acid-base balance as well as blood pressure. They produce hormones, e.g., for blood formation, and control calcium-phosphate balance, thus influencing bone mineral metabolism. This diversity of functions is partially reflected in the structure of the kidneys.

1.1 Location and Structure of the Kidneys
The kidneys are paired organs and are located laterally in the retroperitoneal space, where they are well protected. In adults, the kidneys measure approximately 11–12 cm in length, 5–6 cm in width, and weigh about 150 g. The left kidney is positioned about 1.5 cm higher than the right kidney. They are embedded in a connective tissue capsule and a fat capsule (see Fig. 1.1). Anatomically, the kidneys are divided into two main structures:

Renal hilum
Renal parenchyma
Renal Hilum
At the renal hilum, the renal artery (A. renalis) and renal vein (V. renalis) enter the kidney, while the ureter exits. The ureter collects urine from the renal pelvis and transports it to the bladder.

Renal Parenchyma
The renal parenchyma is the functional tissue of the kidney. It is divided into:

The cortex (renal cortex), which is 1–1.5 cm wide and located peripherally.
The medulla (renal medulla), which is centrally located.
Nephron
The nephron is the functional unit of the kidney, responsible for urine formation. It consists of two main anatomical structures:

The glomerulus, located in the renal cortex, functions as a filter that extracts fluid from the blood, producing primary urine.
The tubular system, located in the renal medulla, processes the primary urine into final urine.
Each kidney contains approximately 1–3 million nephrons.
