Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra says she will not have any more personal conversations with Hun Sen after the leak of a phone call in which she is heard calling a regional Thai army commander an “opponent” and agreeing to do what the former Cambodian prime minister asked.
Ms Paetongtarn admitted on Wednesday that it was her voice on a nine-minute audio clip released on Wednesday. She and Hun Sen spoke in Thai and Khmer, using an interpreter, in the call that took place on Sunday.
The clip begins with the pair exchanging pleasantries about health before getting into a discussion about the border dispute that has soured relations between the two countries.

BANGKOK/PHNOM PENH, June 18 (Reuters) – Relations between Thailand and Cambodia suffered a major blow on Wednesday after a leak of a telephone conversation between Thai Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra and influential – adj มีอิทธิพล former Cambodian premier Hun Sen that could further escalate tensions.

Ông Hun Sen cho biết đã chia sẻ bản ghi âm với khoảng 80 quan chức cấp cao của Campuchia. Sau khi nội dung cuộc gọi bị lộ, các quan chức Thái Lan công khai chỉ trích ông, cho rằng ông “thiếu chuyên nghiệp”.
Chủ tịch Thượng viện Campuchia cho biết đoạn bị lộ chỉ là một phần trong toàn bộ cuộc nói chuyện kéo dài hơn 17 phút, và ông sẵn sàng công bố đầy đủ ngay lập tức.

Jakrapob Penkair, former Minister to the Prime Minister’s Office, revealed on the program Kammakorn Khao Khui Nok Jo regarding the case of Cambodian leader Hun Sen releasing an audio recording of a conversation with Thailand’s Prime Minister Paetongtarn (“Ink”).
Jakrapob acknowledged, based on what he heard from others, that “PM Ink” felt stressed—but it was due to frustration, not sadness or weakness. She was upset because of the interpretation that she was offering the country to him (Hun Sen). Since then, the Prime Minister has been cautious about her speech.
He admitted that the Prime Minister’s use of the term “opposition” was inappropriate, emphasizing that the military and the government cannot be enemies.
