1.ชัดเจน well-defined appearance and distribution
– eg. chronic plaque , psoriasis , basal cell carcinoma , atopic dermatitis
2. มี character pattern , แต่ยัง variety of underlying clinical conditions
– eg. erythema nodosum, erythema multiforme
3. ไม่ชัดเจน มี variable presentation , no constant association with underlying conditions

skin lesion อาจจะสัมพันธ์กับ serious systemic disease หรือ โรคทั่วๆไป ก็ได้

อธิบาย clinical description term eg. macule , papule , nodule , plaque , induration , atrophy , bulla , erythema
– ดูจาก skin surface จะบ่งบอกถึง underlying affected skin

จากรูป macular เรียบๆ ไม่ใหญ่ ,ถ้าใหญ่ เรียก patch
papule แยกกับ nodule ที่ ถ้านูนจากชั้นตื้นๆ เป็น papule แต่ถ้ามาจากชั้น dermis เป็น nodule
